Landstar is in the small-business business. Built on solid, long-term relationships, the company enables thousands of independent transportation providers to operate their own businesses as a member of the Landstar network. These independent agents have access to Landstar’s tools and resources, which enables them to compete with the largest carriers in the industry.
Landstar agents have access to more than tens of thousands of truck capacity providers and a wide array of equipment, no one in the industry can match the Landstar network. In addition to a trailer pool containing over 13,700 Landstar vans to support our drop-and-hook service offering, Landstar has one of the largest collections of specialized trailers in North America with over 2,700 pieces of equipment in our fleet.
Safety is a priority at Landstar because it saves lives, reduces potential freight damage and gives our customers the high-quality service they’ve come to expect with us.
That's why Landstar has strict owner-operator qualifications and has developed safety programs such as M.U.S.T. – Mutual Understanding of Safety Together. The M.U.S.T. program brings Landstar representatives and customers together to ensure freight is delivered safely, on time and damage-free.
And, our monthly Safety Thursday conference calls – which started in 1991 – bring together employees, agents, owner-operators, customers and law enforcement agencies to discuss safety practices.
Nothing demonstrates Landstar's commitment to safety more than our fleet of about 1,090 Million Mile Safe Drivers and Landstar Roadstar® honorees, who have driven 1 million+ consecutive miles with Landstar without a preventable accident, and handle freight in a professional, claim-free manner unmatched in the industry. Wherever we move your freight, safety comes with us.
Landstar’s scale, systems and support, combined with our proprietary technology, help agents provide unparalleled value to our customers.
